The Rochester Girls U12 team won the Elite Division of the Nike Cup tournament in Dublin Ohio. It was the second year in a row that they were the champions in the top group. The girls played in a 5 team round robin division and had a record of 3 wins 0 losses and 1 tie. The Girls began the weekend with a 3-1 win over Cincinnati Soccer Alliance. Two of the goals were scored off of restarts including a header off a corner kick that gave the team a late 2 goal lead. The second game saw the girls go down 1-0 before rallying back to score two goals against Delaware Select Knights. Empire gave up a late goal and ended the match with a 2-2 draw. Sunday morning, knowing that goal differential could decide the group, the Empire ladies won a decisive 7-0 game over Northtowns Soccer Club. This set up a final game vs Grove City in a winner take the title match. The GU12 Empire Girls scored 3 first half goals and added 2 more in the second half to win 5-0. Through the weekend the girls scored 17 goals, by 8 different players, and only allowed 3 in the back of their own net.
