The Empire United Rochester Girls U14 team coached by Mike Ellicott advanced to the Semi-Finals at the Region I Championships in Barboursville, West Virginia.
The girls won their first game vs the Connecticut State Champion - Beachside 3-0.
On day 2, the team again had a strong game, this time against Century from PA-West, and won 4-1.
The final group game the girls needed to tie or win to advance, and survived a late push from 1776 United from PA-East to finish in a 1-1 draw, and with two wins and a tie they advanced to the semi-final.
The semi-final match up against South Shore Select Elite pitted the #1 ranked MA team against the #1 ranked NYW team. In a game delayed due to storms in the area, Empire and South Shore both scored once in regulation, and with no goals in extra time, the semi-final went to penalties, where Empire fell to South Shore 4-3.
The girls had an amazing run and should be proud of their efforts advancing to the semi-finals in back-to-back seasons! Great job to the girls and Coach Mike and Coach Brianna for a fantastic season. The team has much to be proud of, finishing the season very strong.
